4 the medical model

The medical model presents dementia as a clinical syndrome characterized by a continuing decline in cognitive and functional abilities, in most cases with behavioural and psychiatric disturbances, resulting in a lack of the ability to function in society and to care for themselves, about which little can be done.

The prognosis is bleak and death, in the vast majority of cases, is inevitable.
